What you learn: This course is designed to help people integrate 3D into their portfolio.
Some people need to know 3D modeling for BIM projects. Others need to know it for designing displays, massing models and to address specific construction detail "solutions."
The class begins with the basics of 3D modeling -- focusing on views, coordinate systems and bringing the 3D model into a "presentation sheet." Then we expand our learning to creating an "environment," where we model a part of a buliding and populate it with furniture and other accessories which we make in class (and during that process learn the important 3D tools).
Later on, we 3D model building components, like mechanical ducts and electrical trays, which ultimately help our students integrate their 3D models into BIM models (for use in Navisworks clash detection, and other important BIM analysis and Green Technology programs).
AutoCAD, Revit and 3dsMax all have the SoftImage rendering engine. In the last meetings of the class, we take our project and render it, using the terrific visualization tools which are included within AutoCAD.
This class is incredibly helpful for people who already have a good understanding of AutoCAD, and who want to take better advantage of the software that they alreayd know and enjoy so much.
Prerequisite: This course is designed for people who need to enhance their knowledge of 3D modeling for use in CAD, BIM and Visualization.
All students are expected to have (1) a working knowledge of CAD and (2) a basic knowledge of the Windows operating environment.
The course is designed for (1) AutoCAD and/or AutoCAD LT users with less than 6 months professional experience, (2) current AutoCAD and/or AutoCAD LT users who have not had formal training and (3) current users who are not using the software efficiently.
Course Description: A mid-level course for construction industry professionals seeking professional advancement through acquiring three- dimensional computer design skills.
Autodesk Course e-certificate: Our cadteacher/vdci training courses are accredited by Autodesk. cadteacher/vdci is an Autodesk Authorized Training Center (ATC). At the completion of each course, students receive an industry-recognized e-certificate from Autodesk to confirm they have attended and successfully completed an accredited Autodesk course.
State of California Approval: Our Technology Certificates and our technology-based courses are approved by the Sate of California's Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE).
Autodesk Professional Certification Exams: For many of their software programs, Autodesk offers Associate and Professional Certification Exams which test your skills and knowedge. cadteacher/vdci strongly encourages our students to take the exams and to become Certified Autodesk Professionals. As an Autodesk Certified Professional, you can enhance your credibility and can accelerate your professional development. Many employers insist on hiring Autodesk Certified Professionals.
