This course introduces 3D modeling concepts
to construction industry professionals (architects, engineers, contractors, designers and trades professionals)
with the desire and need to integrate AutoCAD 3D modeling into their
toolbox.
In the class, we gain significant experience with user coordinate systems, views, creating presentation drawings and rendering those 3D models.
Knowledge and confidence in the application
of 3D computer design tools will be gained through hands-on training
exercises and demonstrations in the computer lab.
The course will
utilize lectures, hands-on demonstrations and lab exercises to familiarize
class participants with AutoCAD modeling and rendering commands relevant for 3D modeling.
The course covers 3D modeling commands for buildings and "props",
the creation of AutoCAD drawings which will allow the class participant
to show multiple perspective views of their computer model in one
plotted drawing, and steps necessary to take the 3D model into animation
and rendering software.
Course Project:
There are two typical "big projects" in the class -- (1) creating 3D models of "props," a building and rendering that environment and (2) creating 3D models of building systems and components for use in BIM analysis, using programs such as Navisworks for clash detection.
