What
you learn: Create a moderately complex 3D model in AutoCAD. When
we developed our curriculum, we started with the requirements of
the AutoDesk Training Centers. We enhanced that curriculum to provide
you even more exposure to AutoCAD -- and especially with relevant
skills needed for the Construction Industry.
Prerequisite: Fundamental working knowledge of the Windows environment
and AutoCAD III or instructor approval.
Course Description: This course is designed both as a follow-up
to introductory 3D modeling. The course introduces more advanced
3D modeling concepts to architects, engineers, contractors, designers
and illustrators with current CAD 3D modeling work experience. Knowledge
and confidence in the application of 3D computer design tools will
be gained through hands-on training exercises and demonstrations
in the computer lab. The course will utilize lectures, hands-on
demonstrations and lab exercises to familiarize class participants
with AutoCAD commands relevant for 3D modeling. The course covers
advanced 3D modeling commands for buildings and "props",
the creation of AutoCAD drawings which will allow the class participant
to show multiple perspective views of their computer model in one
plotted drawing, and steps necessary to take the 3D model into animation
and rendering software. The use of the AutoCAD rendering tools will
be covered.
Course Project: Modeling portions of an urban campus in AutoCAD.
Use 2D architectural technical documents as a source for developing
the 3D model. All class participants will be assigned specific portions
of the modeling project. All student work will be integrated into
the campus model. Class participants will receive a copy of all
work completed by the class.
Grading: Class participants will receive a grade for their contributions
to the class. There will be quizzes and tests to ensure that class
participants fully understand the topics being presented.
Open labs: Open labs are available for use in completing homework
assignments and for additional "practice time" by the
class participants. There is an additional cost for using open labs.
